Mr Amro Hassaan

I had a stapedectomy procedure carried out at the ENT hospital. London in January 2015. Unfortunately, despite the surgery going well, I encountered problems which resulted in a longer than usual recovery period. As this procedure is quite specialised my GP was not knowledgeable enough to help support my recovery in any way. Following the packing removal, approx. 10 days after the surgery, I had a follow up appointment approx. 1 month later where my hearing was tested and I received a consultation with Mr Amro Hassaan. Mr Hassaan was extremely thorough, explaining in simple terms how the surgery had been carried out. He then drained the fluid in my ear and prescribed some antibiotic spray to reduce the inflammation. Not only was his care and treatment on the day exemplary, he also followed up with 2 phone calls to me at home to see how things were progressing! I had a second follow up appointment with him one month later and the inflammation had gone down and although their was some wax build up (Which again he removed) things had improved. He was still less than satisfied with the amount of hearing that has been restored, as he expected more, but filled me with confidence that he will do the best he possibly can for me. You can't ask more than that can you? In summary, as a result of his exceptional after care, I have felt completely reassured that things will continue to improve and that he will do everything in his power to ensure that I get the maximum recovery of my hearing possible. I can not recommend Mr Hassaan enough. He is without doubt the most patient orientated doctor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. His personable manner and passion for his work are second to none.

I had an appointment at the ENT hospital on the 31/3 2015 I was due to see my regular consultant but due to a full clinic I was seen by Mr Amro Hassan for the first time. Mr Hassan was very polite and greeted me with a friendly smile that made me feel relaxed. Mr Hassan introduced himself and his past areas of practice this gave me same reassurance and understanding. Mr Hassan was a very good listener and let me explain without interruption; after which he took his time and examined the areas/symptoms that I was having ongoing problems with for years. Mr Hassan then explained in detail eliminated some of these areas but looking at possible/ probable areas. Know I feel that I have a better understanding of what is probable as I have been going to my GP and continually for years taking antibiotics for suffering pain in my head and not having any Idea of what the course could be.Now I have eliminated and have probable and the next step is in sight hopefully I will have a end to my pain? Thank you Mr Hassan you have listened talked me through things and reassured me and given me a plan ahead. I must say that there are good consultants out there but very few that give the time to understand what the patient is going through and that have a good bedside manner. Some of them are too busy looking at the computer or make you feel that you're taking up to much of their time. They should take a leaf from this Consultant it makes better patient care

Since there are more than 1 Amro Hassans on this website and a picture is not uploaded, I have to guess that this is the correct doctor I consulted. The Amro Hassaan that helped me had short hair and glasses and he was extremely professional and meticulously accurate in his Otolaryngology treatment AND advice. Mr Hassaan was clear, comprehensive, fully understanding of the somewhat complicated issues that arise in my case. He spent as much time as was necessary to cover the issues and come to some recommendations, fully responsive to my particular needs. The way in which he handled it and his level of knowledge of the alternatives was reassuring. Couldn't have been better.

Everything one would hope for in a great doctor (with a great team by the way - all staff were friendly, efficient, timely and good communicators). I was listened to, got sound answers to my questions and most importantly got appropriate treatment for my condition, which has come on well after 4 days of treatment. Very impressed. Wish this experience was the norm in our NHS.
